About us

The IFC Resource Centre was set up as an independent facility to provide graphical information, books and CD-ROMs in the field of Reproductive Medicine. ZanderIVF is dedicated to providing specialist Instrumentation and Culture Media within Assisted Reproduction. IFC has joined with Zander IVF to form "IFC @ Zander IVF" providing a variety of information and related services in ART across Cyberspace.

IFC (Independent Fertility Concerns) stems from over 23 years of experience by Dr Tim Appleton in fertility counselling and sees the need to present clear illustrated information which can be readily accessed and understood by all sections of the community - from those professionally involved in Assisted Reproductive Medicine (ARM - sometimes also referred to as ART - Assisted Reproductive Technology), as well as those who need the technology.

We have put these pages together in the hope that we can provide clear and up-to-date information which can be used by a broad spectrum of society. A useful glossary means that it can be understood equally well by:

  • Health-care professionals who need clear material to present to their patients.
  • Counsellors who are there to support childless couples through their quest for a child and who need material to help couples understand what is happening to their bodies, how they are to make choices, how to understand the implications of the technology when faced with the many different options, and how to understand the possible reasons for failure/bereavement, including the possibility of adjusting to childlessness..
  • Patients who need to be able to access clear information in the privacy of their homes.
  • Support Groups
  • Older children who knowing that their origins depended on medical interventions.
  • Students and who have an interest in, or who need help with projects on, the development of Assisted Reproductive Medicine.
  • Members of the public and other groups who may be concerned about the wider ethical dimensions which already exist or may be on the horizon.
